About me

Hello, I'm Michael Okyere, a highly motivated individual dedicated to academic and professional excellence. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana (KNUST), where I developed a strong foundation in Sociological Theories, Rural Sociology and Research Methods.

In addition to my Sociological background, I pursued a minor in Political Science to gain a well-rounded perspective. This interdisciplinary approach allowed me to understand comparative politics and social relations, making me a more effective problem solver.

I recently joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Sociology program. I am excited about the cutting-edge research opportunities and the collaborative environment at UNL. I am particularly fond of the open-door policy of professors in the sociology department, which fosters a culture of learning and growth.

Post-graduation, my goal is to contribute to the field of social research, addressing Rural underdevelopment concerns, Health and Substance abuse and advancing the practical applications of sociological research methods in inequalities and stratifications. I aspire to actively engage in social research and work closely with interdisciplinary agencies to create solutions for real-world social problems.

Outside of academia, I enjoy playing basketball, listening to music, and cooking, which provide a welcome balance to my intellectual pursuits.

I look forward to my time at UNL and the opportunities it will provide to make a meaningful impact on the world.
