About Me
I am a 5th year PhD candidate in the department of sociology here at UNL. I’m originally from Houston, Texas.
I am broadly interested in race and racisms, with a particularly focus on understanding how structural racism is reified through racial ideologies and maintained through discourse. My dissertation analyzes whether the discipline of sociology conceptualizes race and racism as well as the origins of the discipline itself according to insights from postcolonial and settler colonial theories.
Throughout my time here at UNL, I have taught Introduction to Ethnic Studies (ETHN 100) several times as well as the Sociology of Race and Ethnicity (SOCI 101). I hope to continue honing my teaching skills so that I may one day be a successful professor of sociology.
When I’m not working in the office, you can find me enjoying Lincoln’s wonderful craft beer scene, plentiful coffee shops, and the Nebraska Outdoor Education Center where I practice archery.
