Brady McLean is a first-year M.A. student and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Their research interests focus on gender and sexuality, global/transnational sociology, and religious politics through qualitative and mixed methods. Following a queer and decolonial theoretical lens, they are interested in detailing the spread of transphobic rhetoric from the U.S. to Latin America alongside the methods of resistance employed by gender minorities in the region.

Having worked for multiple nonprofit organizations such as the First City Pride Center and Mary’s Place: Sexual Assault Center of the Coastal Empire Inc., Brady is dedicated to ensuring their research is accessible to inform and empower community members to create long-lasting systemic change.
