Statement in Support of Student Action on August 24-25
August 26, 2021
The Department of Sociology stands in solidarity with the hundreds of UNL students who have gathered this week to support survivors of sexual assault and to condemn a culture where repeated reports of sexual violence go unheeded. For UNL and college campuses around the country, sexual misconduct and violence must be met with accountability.
We also recognize the emotional traumas students, faculty, and staff may experience in the wake of such events. Confidential support is available:
- UNL’s Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education (CARE): (402) 472-3553
- UNL’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): (402) 472-7450
- Voices of Hope, 24-Hour Helpline: (402) 475-7273
