My name is Laura Simon and I am working towards my doctorate degree in Sociology with an anticipated graduate date of May 2016. My primary research areas are adolescent sexuality, mental health, physical health, and family. I earned my Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in August 2011. Prior to graduate school, I completed my B.S. in Sociology with a minor in Social Sciences at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.

I am currently a member of the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) for which I was the Family division newsletter editor from 2011 to 2014. I am also a member of the American Sociological Association (ASA), and the Midwest Sociological Society (MSS).

I currently teach Nationality and Race Relations. In the past I’ve also had the opportunity to act as a teaching assistant for the Sociology of Marriage and Family course and teach Introduction to Sociology online. My primary teaching interests are in intersectionality, stratification, family, and health.
