Associate Professor Ph.D. Pennsylvania State University Areas of Specialization:
Email: pschwadel2@unl.edu I am an Associate Professor of Sociology at University of Nebraska—Lincoln. Before coming to UNL, I received my PhD from Pennsylvania State University and was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the National Study of Youth and Religion. My research focuses on the intersections between religion, social status, social contexts, and social change. Much of my research examines the association between social class and religious beliefs, practices, and affiliations. I pay particular attention to how social contexts influence these relationships, incorporating congregational influences and, more recently, the role of social networks. I also explore the changing nature of American religion. Addressing discrepancies between theory and methods, my research assesses the independent impact of both time and generations on changes in religion and, more specifically, in the association between social class and religion. |
