| I received my B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2004 with a triple major in psychology/anthropology/ethnic studies and minors in sociology, economics, and African American Studies. In July 2004 I began working as a data collection coordinator at the Center for At-Risk Children’s Services (a research center within UNL’s College of Education and Human Sciences) and continue full-time employment in that position. In January 2007, I enrolled as a part-time graduate student at UNL and am currently pursuing my M.A. degree in the Department of Sociology. My research area is social stratification. Under this vast sociological umbrella I have interests in a variety of topics as they relate to social and economic inequality–including (but not limited to) politics & public policy-making, education, religion, media & cultural studies, consumerism, race/ethnicity, globalization... The best summary is to say that I am interested in the multiple and various structures of societies with result, either intentionally or inadvertently, in granting higher statuses and disproportionate resources to privileged groups at the expense of oppressed groups. Outside of academia I enjoy the company and conversation of my fiancé and other good friends, the daily eccentricities of my three young children, and new discoveries of food, art, music, or ideas.
