Sociology Graduate Students

Chris Garneau

I received my B.A. from Dickinson State University in North Dakota with a double major in Political Science/History and a minor in Sociology in May of 2006. I completed my M.A. in Sociology in December of 2008 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Sociology Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

My primary areas of research interest are sociology of religion and political sociology. I have sub-interests in class stratification, sociology of environment, and social change. My Master’s Thesis focused on the influence of religious switching on political participation. Currently, I’m planning on researching religion as an agent of political socialization for my dissertation.

I have taught recitation for Introduction to Sociology as well as several courses of Introduction to Sociology. I am currently teaching Social Problems and will most likely teach Theory and Intensive Writing in the summer of 2009.

In my free time I like to write, play, and record music. I also like to play Guitar Hero, keep up with politics, as well as hang out with my family.
